Sweet Syrup

A few years ago we went on a trip and on our way to our destination we stop and saw some friends, the Sorensen's that had moved away from our town that we lived in. Marisa is a neat lady, she is super women. And I mean it when I say that. She is also a great cook. For breakfast that one morning she served us this syrup with the pancakes she made for us. This syrup is to die for. Trust me you will want to go to the store right now and get the ingredients to make some for Saturday morning breakfast. You will not be disappointed. The picture above doesn't do justice. You can't see the syrup but it is there.

Sweet Syrup
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp vanilla

Get a larger pot for this because you don't want it to boil over. In a large pot add the butter and melt it. Then add sugar and buttermilk and mix until dissolved. Then add soda and vanilla and mix really good. It will start to get bigger (because of the buttermilk meets soda affect, that is why you will want the large pot). Once it's all mix well together turn off heat and let set for 5 minutes.

I have half the recipe and it works out fine. You will not want to put butter on your pancakes just serve over the pancakes by it's self.
