On Sunday night we need a little treat. So we decide to make banana splits. Oh they were so good. I just kept eating my so slow because I didn't want it to end. We made homemade chocolate syrup to go with it, along with homemade cool whip. Which is the best thing since homemade ice cream. I don't think I can go back to the store bought frozen kind or even the canned stuff. Anyways, here it the recipe to both of them.
Hot Chocolate Syrup
3 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 c. cocoa
4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix together and bring to boiling point. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. Make a good topping for ice cream. Handy for chocolate milk. This recipe makes a lot so we half it and it still worked out good.
Homemade Cool Whip
1 c. whipping cream
2 tbls. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Chill beater and bowl in freezer. (If you forget to do this it will still works with out being cold). Mix all ingredients together and beat until soft peaks form. (About 5 minutes). Serve immediately.
